Dear Annemarie,
Bernie was the dearest friend and neighbor! ... always a bright beacon of light and living completely in the moment. He was the "genuine article" -- he had the gift of listening and a deep empathy for his friends and the world around him. He never retired from his remarkable broadcast/journalism career, as he was always seeking out and doing the "next meaningful project." I always enjoyed our conversations which celebrated our mutual respect for one of life's most important currencies: the passionate "exchange of ideas" between friends. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to you and the Gavzer family.
