Bernard "Bernie" Rock, age 64, of South Jersey, passed away on March 25, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Legacy
Born in South Philadelphia on August 12, 1961, he was the cherished son of the late Bernard and Ada Rock. Bernie was raised among a tight circle of family and friends who remained a meaningful presence throughout his life. He attended LaSalle University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in accounting, passed the CPA exam after graduating, and later completed his MBA at Drexel University.
A successful CPA and financial banking executive for over forty years, Bernie was known not only for his sharp mind and work ethic, but also for the friendships he established throughout his life. He had a special gift for connecting with people. Using innate humor and warmth, he made friends everywhere he went. If you met Bernie, you liked him. He had a way of uniting a room with a perfectly timed joke or a heartfelt speech that always left people laughing. He was generous in every sense-freely giving his time, guidance, and support, always ready to pick up the check, offer a ride, or open his home to those he cared about. His love for the Philadelphia Eagles was well known and often brought him together with family and friends.
Family
Bernie is leaving behind his beloved partner, Barbara, whose profound love and steadfast support sustained him throughout his battle, and his three devoted children who carry forth his spirit of family, hard work, and humor: Kristine and her husband Brandon, parents to newborn son Brock, named in his grandfather's honor. Michael and his wife Cayde, parents to one year old daughter Elsie. And Andrew, his youngest son, a successful engineer who was motivated by a sincere wish to make his father proud. Bernie battled cancer with incredible strength and determination, and it was with overwhelming joy and gratitude that he held his grandchildren in his arms before passing.
Bernie is also survived by his partner's children, Alexandra and Nicole, his beloved sisters, Kathryn and her husband Joseph, and Lillian, as well as his nieces, Amy and Gina-each of whom have been touched by his enduring love and generosity over the years.
Bernie was remarkable. He never truly knew how many people cherished his company, his wisdom, and his easy smile. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and connection. At each family gathering, the laughter will be a touch subdued, the room a little dimmer for having lost his light too soon.
All are welcome to attend and share their memories of Bernie.
