Bernard Stanley Siwik Sr.

Bernard Stanley Siwik (Bernie), age 82, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024 at his home in the loving arms of his wife. Bernie was born on February 7, 1942 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
After graduating from eighth grade, he attended St. Joseph's Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he acquired meaningful life-long friendships. Following the seminary, he attended St. Mary's College and then proudly joined the United State Air Force serving four years.
Upon leaving the Air Force, Bernard began a long career in the meat industry at Peter Eckrich & Sons which, through various buy-outs, became ConAgra Foods. He worked in the Chicago area and retired after 40 years.
Bernie married Annmarie in 1979 and they had 45 wonderful years together which they shared with their four children as a blended family. Being tired of the cold and snow, they were happy to move to Myrtle Beach, SC in 2015 finding a home in the community of Cresswind where they made many friends. Bernie truly enjoyed his membership in the Veterans of Cresswind Organization especially because of their support of local Veterans in need.
His enthusiasm for sports allowed him to excel especially as a team member of the US Air Force baseball team. His passion for grilling baby back ribs garnered him several awards. Other favorite pastimes included playing golf and watching football – especially his treasured University of Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!).
He was a loving husband and father and will be truly missed by his wife, Annmarie Siwik and their children, Bernard S. Siwik Jr. (Mirella), Mindy Siwik Stratton (Paul), David Chesterfield, Michael Chesterfield (Michelle), grandchildren, Austin, Luke, Nina, Alexa, Payton; sisters Mari Lynn (Larry), Jennifer (Mark); niece Cynthia, nephews Christopher and Christopher Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen (Jasiak) Siwik, sister Frannie and nephew Patrick.
Visitation will be held at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, with a prayer service at 5:30PM
A Funeral Mass in honor of Bernie Siwik will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Murrells Inlet. The service will be livestreamed and will be available through, https://www.saintmichaelsc.net/
