Lewis (Dan) Daniel Jones, born on November 21, 1938, in Athens, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at his home in Mineral Bluff, Georgia, leaving this world for his long awaited adventure. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, known for his warm personality and adventurous spirit.
Dan was married to his soulmate, Barbara A. Jones, for 65 cherished years. Together, they created a loving family that included their sons, Mark (Katherine) Jones and Wayne Jones. Dan took great pride in his role as a grandfather to his grandchildren, including Dayton Jones, Jake Jones, Ryan Jones, Joseph Totherow, and Jacob Totherow. He was also a joyful great-grandfather to Miss Scottie Jones and Master Titus Jones.
A man of many hobbies, Dan had a deep love for the Georgia Bulldogs and enjoyed fishing in his leisure time. He was known to never meet a stranger and was a friend to all, building connections with those around him. His adventures around the world were often recounted with laughter and fondness by those fortunate enough to hear his stories.
He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Shirley (Charles) Mills, along with his sisters-in-law, Glad (Marty) Simmons and Sandy Jones, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dan also leaves behind his cherished Williamstown Methodist Church family.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Virginia Jones. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at Williamstown Methodist Church located at 37 Williamstown Rd, Mineral Bluff, GA 30559.
Visitation at 10:00 AM and again after the service where lunch will be served for everyone, providing friends and family an opportunity to honor Dan's remarkable life and the adventures he cherished.
