Bernetta H. (Buerck) Buchheit, 92, peacefully went to meet her Lord in the early morning hours of September 29, 2025. She was born in Belgique, Missouri, June 15, 1933, the daughter of Rudolph and Bertha (Baer) Buerck. On October 25, 1952, she married Linus "Sonny" Buchheit. For the next sixty-seven years, they forged a loving home for themselves and their children until Sonny's passing on April 30, 2020.
Bernetta was a graduate of St. Vincent High School in Perryville, Missouri; later working at Sav-A-Lot and the Washington Nursing Center in Washington. She enjoyed embroidering, playing cards, traveling, and baking. Bernetta loved her family and always looked forward to spending time with them. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
Those who are left to cherish Bernetta's memory include her five children: Deborah (Kent) Kassel; Dean (Kathy) Buchheit; Cynthia (Mike) Davis; Kevin (Grace) Buchheit; and Michele (Brad) Rainey. Bernetta was blessed with several grandchildren: Kris Kassel, Jonah Buchheit, Justin Buchheit, Amie Hillyard, Gretchen Berry, Joshua Davis, Anna Buchheit, Kate Buchheit, Nathanial Rainey, Nolan Rainey and step grandson, Jeremy Graves; twenty-one great-grandchildren and siblings: Eugene (Carol) Buerck; Stella Prevallet; Robert (Jean) Buerck; Jerry (Leslie) Buerck; Roger (Rhonda) Buerck; and sisters-in-law, Eunice Buerck and Nelda Buerck, all living in Missouri.
During her lifetime, Bernetta mourned the passing of her parents, Bertha and Rudolph Buerck; her husband, Linus "Sonny" Buchheit; grandson, Nicholas Rainey; sister, Birdella Schnurbusch; brothers: Glennon Buerck, Rudy Buerck and Tom Buerck; and son-in-law, Kent Kassel.
