Bernice A. Baratto

Bernice A. Baratto, 98, longtime resident of Kitzville died Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. She was born September 16, 1927, to Marko and Anna (Rutchasky) Zidich in Buyck, MN. Bernice entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Domenic Bonacci, on Sept. 15, 1951. Domenic unfortunately passed away. She later married Jack Baratto on Aug. 4, 1975, and would sadly become a widower for a second time. Bernice held a few jobs throughout her lifetime but was primarily a homemaker by trade. She was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and then more recently Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. Bernice also belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8510 of Hibbing for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, and cooking as some of her favorite pastimes.
Bernice is survived by her three children, Michael (Judith) Bonacci, Maple Grove, MN, Domenic (Maureen) Bonacci, Cass County, MN, and Steve (Rosalie) Bonacci, Kitzville, MN, four sisters, Cathy Marty, Connie Willard, Veronica Stark, and Theresa Landacre, seven grandchildren, Nick Bonacci, Heather Austin, Domenic Bonacci, Tabitha Bonacci, Angelica Oldham, Sarah Gabardi, and Stephanie Twardowski, 10 great-grandchildren, Dillon, Evelyn, Christopher, Katie, Chloe, Jack, Joey, Jenna, Addy, and Gabby, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Domenic Bonacci, second husband, Jack Baratto, three brothers, Charlie, Marko, and Billy, and 7 sisters, Loretta, Lolly, Clara, Rosie, Rita, Vickie, and Lucille.
Per Bernice’s request there will be a private celebration of life in the springtime. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
