Bernice Daniel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John F. Tierney Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 5, 2026.
Bernice I. Daniel, 88, of Windsor Locks, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Born on December 19, 1937, in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late George and Izola (Daignault) Stavnitsky.

Raised in Glastonbury, Bernice graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1955 and completed her studies at Hillyer College in 1957 with a degree in stenography and secretarial services. In 1960, she married Neil Daniel, with whom she shared 54 joyful years of marriage until his passing in 2014. Bernice enjoyed a distinguished career serving the Probate Courts in Windsor Locks and Manchester, concluding her professional life as the Probate Clerk for the Town of Windsor prior to her retirement in 1995.

A mother's love is unconditional, selfless and knows no bounds. Bernice dedicated herself to her family, taking pride in witnessing the growth of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She valued travel with her husband Neil and sister Arleen, recalling trips to Europe, Cape Cod, the Connecticut shore, and a notable family cruise to Bermuda in 2008. An enthusiastic UConn basketball supporter, she traveled extensively to attend Huskies games. In her later years, she appreciated weekly gatherings with her sisters-in-law, Ann and Audie, fostering strong family connections. She remained thankful for the enduring support and affection from her many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her children, Leslie Sheahon and her husband Michael of Manchester, Christopher G. Daniel and his wife Colleen of Mansfield, MA; her grandchildren, Daniel Sheahon, Matthew Sheahon, Shawn Daniel, Christopher J. Daniel, Erin Daniel; great grandchildren Griffin Sheahon, James Sheahon, David Sheahon: her sister, Arleen DiFrancesco; and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial mass at First Church of Christ Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury, on Saturday, March 21, at 11:00am. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
