She was born on Friday, June 24, 1938, in Ellijay, Georgia, to the late Mr. Auby and Mrs. Minnie Newberry Thompson.

She is survived by her daughters, Virginia (Johnny) Mills and Linda (Mack) Brindle; special grandson, Barry (Jackie) Cox, and very special great-granddaughter, Natalie Jade Cox; sister, Veronia Thompson; and the father of her children, Grady (Genell) Dillbeck. She is also survived by several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
