Bernice Levine Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Louis Suburban Chapel - Fair Lawn on Dec. 16, 2025.
Bernice Levine, known by most as Bunny and others as Bea, passed away on the second day of Chanukkah leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and deep devotion to family.

Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Bernice was a proud graduate of Newark Arts High School, where her lifelong passion for art began. While styling hair on the side, she went on to share that passion with generations of students as a middle school art teacher in the Wayne Public Schools. A dedicated educator and innovator, Bernice also started Wayne Ed, a program that enabled teachers to earn college and professional development credit.

Bernice was predeceased by her kindhearted sister Claire, her loving son, Steven, and forty years and a day on the Hebrew calendar, her beloved husband, Stanley Levine. Their memory remained forever close to her heart.

She is survived by her brother Harvey (and Sandy), daughters, Myrna (and Bob) and Marcy (and Bob) and daughter-in-law Andrea; her cherished grandchildren, Shana (and Korey), Rebecca (and Jared), Robin (and Steve), Scott (and Ashley), Beth (and Garrett), Sawyer, Riley, and Cole; and her adored great-grandchildren, Jaeden and Caiya, Collin and Ashlynn, Michelle and Emily, Skylar, and Samuel.

Bernice loved art, especially painting, and found great joy in cooking, most famously her brisket and mandelbread. She also treasured traveling with her family, creating memories that will be held close forever. Above all else, Bernice loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. Her unfiltered opinions, unrivaled artistry, and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
