Bernice McClellan

Bernice McClellan of Albany, Oregon (and previously of Talbot, Oregon) died Saturday in Albany. She was only three days away from being 97 years old. Bernice was born in Banner, Virginia to Avery and Dovie (Sutherland) Bowen. She married Milburn "Slim" McClellan in Virginia. Her mother and father and two youngest siblings moved to Oregon in 1940 and Bernice and her husband followed a couple of years later. She and "Slim" enjoyed raising peppermint in the Talbot and Buena Vista areas over the years. They lived in a home they built on Talbot Road, not far from the Talbot Community Church where she was a member for many years. Bernice was widowed in 1963. In 2007 she moved to a home at the Mennonite Village where she lived independently until her death. In Albany she attended Eastside Christian Church. Bernice loved her four brothers and her one sister, eighteen nieces and nephews who loved spending time with their "Neenie"! She also loved her numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews! Time spent with her was precious to all of her family and friends! She was preceded in death by her husband, Slim; her brothers Cliff, Cecil, Fred, and Jack; her mother and father; and two nephews. Survivors include her sister, Theresa Sims of Scio, nieces and nephews of all ages, .0.as well as many, many friends. She was a kind, friendly, warm person who will be missed by all.
