Bernice M. (Anderson) O'Brien, age 86, passed away on November 8, 2025 with her loving daughters by her side. Bernice grew up on Chestnut Street in Darby Colwyn, PA. She met the love of her life, Tim O'Brien, at age 13. On the first day they met, Bernice was flirting with Tim by throwing pinecones at him from the third-floor window of her family's home while Tim was working in his grandmother's front yard. That's where it all started. They dated for 9 years and married on November 4, 1961. They had their first daughter 11 months later and more daughters within the first five years of their marriage. They were married for 57 years. Throughout her married life, Bernice raised her children in Secane, PA, and moved to Kirkwood, PA, and their final years at Merrill Gardens, West Chester, PA.
Bernice was a graduate of West Catholic Girls High School. She worked with the O.L.P.H. Parochial School for many years. She also worked as a salesclerk at Collingdale Stationers, and then a librarian at Quarryville Library. Bernice enjoyed volunteering in her free time for the Kedron Youth Association, where she was the official score keeper for her daughters' softball teams. Bernice enjoyed crocheting and painting ceramics for her daughters and grandchildren.
She is the daughter of the late Philip M. and Ellen M. (Crawford) Anderson, wife of the late Timothy F. O'Brien, Jr who died in 2019, and sister of the late Philip, William, Ellen, Joseph, Edward, Frances, Patricia and Joanne. Bernice was the youngest of 10 siblings.
Survivors: 3 Daughters: Theresa M. Gallagher (Rich), Christine M. Hargrave (Mike) and Barbara M. Lawler (Bob), her Sister: Margaret M. McArdle, her 5 Grandchildren: Aidan, Kyra, Cole, Matthew and David.
Visitation: Saturday, November 15,2025 from 9:30-10:45 am at St. John Chrysostom Church 607 S. Providence Road, Wallingford, PA. Funeral Mass: Saturday, November 15,2025 at 11:00am at St. John Chrysostom Church 617 S. Providence Road Wallingford, PA 19086. Burial: Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
