Bert Nathan Bond Jr., age 59, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born on Dec. 3, 1964, in Surry County to Birt Bond Sr., and Betty Quesinberry Bond. Mr. Bond was a Plant Manager at Vulcan Materials for 30 years, where he prioritized the safety and health of his employees, earning numerous industry awards in recognition of his efforts. He also loved fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was a loving husband and father who will surely be missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 33 years, Susan Jones Bond; sons, Bert Nathan Bond III (Halston Davis), Blake Bond; sisters, Crystal Pendry (Rodney), Lisa Giles (Hagen); brother, Scott Bond (Nikki Cole); niece and nephews, Winston Giles (Rylee), Caroline Giles, William Pendry. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with service conducted by Rev. Gary Horton. Burial followed in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family received friends on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 12:30 p.m. until the time for the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
