I was sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Birdie. She and Uncle Mutty were always kind and approachable to me and my family. They were joyous and fun to be with. I have fond memories of your mother.

Life can be so full of unseen miracles. On Monday 11:50a.m my mom who was 100 years and 4 months old passed from this life. I was with her last week till Saturday. Ended up giving her the last food she would have this life. It was fresh cooked fish from Whole Foods and she liked it....all three bites. A week before I came she told my brother that she was dying..he said Jeffrey is coming in five days and she said ok she would wait. And she did. While I sat with her each day there were only a few words shared but she had discussions with her brother who passed many years ago as well as others as if they were in the room with us. I was sitting there reading the paper one time and she opened her eyes and asked what paper are you reading. I always read the Chicago tribune... then went back into her inner zone.. It was so fascinating to listen to her ask questions to those who passed...as in what will happen..where are the keys... I do not want to be late and much much more.....but the miracle on her final day was the Hospice Rabbi felt he needed to be there at a certain time and he listened to that inner voice. Shortly after he arrived she open her eyes closed them and passed into the realm of the soul. Very beautiful......Emotionally its like a double edge sword...at one level so grateful she is out of pain and frustrations about not being as agile as she was....then the reality that she was the last parent to go... Her name was Bertha but she was better known as Birdie. Rest in peace...Mom..... p.s. she was really 100 and 7 months not 4 but she always like to fib about her age..The days I sat with mom one of the more beautiful aspects was seeing all the family members come to share their love and goodbyes.......
