Bertha Rita Rogers Griffin, 90, of Cut Off, Louisiana was surrounded by her loved ones when she passed away peacefully in her home on October 25th, 2024.
Bertha was born in Golden Meadow, Louisiana on September 24th, 1934 to Evans Rogers and Anna Boudreaux. In 1948, she met the love of her life, Ronald J. Griffin, and they wed in 1951, going on to raise four boys, Ronald Jr., Reed, Rory, and Rowdy. Upon becoming an empty nester, Bertha went back to school and graduated with a GED from South Lafourche High School in 1984.
Bertha excelled at motherhood and was the foundation of our family, through and through – a true matriarch. She was an excellent giver, always knowing the right things to say, and never missing a special date. She loved dancing, traveling, cooking, baking, and playing card and dice games.
Bertha was predeceased by her parents, Evans Rogers and Anna Boudreaux Prestenback, her stepfather Gus Prestenback, her husband, Ronald Griffin, Sr., and her siblings, Milton Rogers, Rose Bud Bruce, Beatrice Borne, Bernice Doucet, and Lou Anna Strickland. She is survived by her boys, Ronald Jr., Reed, Rory, and Rowdy as well as six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
On October 30th, visitation will be held at 12:00 PM in Cut Off, Louisiana at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
