Bertha Tubbs Obituary

Bertha Mary Tubbs (Sockness), 69 from Stanley, WI went to her heavenly home on October 19, 2025. She was born on June 29, 1956, to Earl and Ruby Sockness. She grew up in Cornell, WI. Later moving to Chippewa Falls and graduating from Chi-Hi.

Bertha worked various jobs throughout her life: Holiday Inn, Renegade, Cray Research, Clark County Healthcare, Hutchinson Technology, and Abby Van’s. She loved fishing with her husband and would always say, “One more cast”, she loved doing puzzles, playing cribbage, cards, and other board games. She loved listening to country music, and her greatest love was her husband & her family.

She met her soulmate, Karl Tubbs of 27 years in July of 1998, and united in marriage on September 18, 1998. They lived in Cadott, Boyd & then settled in Stanley, WI.

She is survived by her husband, Karl Tubbs; her children from previous marriages, two daughters, Dawn (Bill) Mateski and Angela “Angie” Moore (Shawn Dale) both from Stanley, WI; and one son; Phillip “Phil” (Billie Jo) Tennenbaum, Canton, TX; one grandson, Harry (Kiara) Mateski, Stanley, WI; five granddaughters, Megan (Luis) Barrios, Hope (David) Huston, both from Canton, TX, Billie Jean (Deven Lockhead), Rebecca Tennenbaum, and Dorothy Tennenbaum, from Mineola, TX; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Lilliana, Serena & Miya. She is further survived by her fur-grandbabies, Bandita & Stormy; sisters; Brenda Kringle, New Auburn, WI, Debby (Arnold) Mikula, Carson, MS; brothers; Larry Sr. (Gloria) Sockness, Cornell, WI; sisters-in-law, Kathy Sockness, Stanley, WI & Sue Sockness, Cadott, WI. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will always live on in the hearts of her family and friends that she had touched and had a great impact on in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal & paternal grandparents; brothers, Leonard Sockness, Terry Sr. Sockness, Gary Sr. Sockness, Jerry Sockness; sister, Belinda Perez; sister-in- law, Donna Sockness; and also her fur-grandson, Oreo.

The Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Trinity Vineyard Church, W11581 County Rd X, Stanley, WI 54768.
