Obituary for Bertha Jean Vann

Bertha Jean Vann, lovingly known to family and friends as "Peaches," was 81 years old and a lifelong resident of Boston, Massachusetts. She peacefully transitioned on Friday, December 12, 2025, entering eternal rest in the presence of the Lord.

Bertha was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend whose life reflected love, kindness, and faith. She cherished people, music, and time spent with her family, and her gentle spirit touched all who knew her.

She shared 42 years of marriage with Herbert E. Vann, the love of her life, who preceded her in death. United again in God's care, they were affectionately known as Peaches and Herb. From their union, they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Cortina Vann and Lakisha Vann Hooks.

Bertha retired after many years of faithful service as a Medical Precision Assembler, spending 20 years with HP/Agilent in Waltham, Massachusetts, and an additional 10 years with Philips in Andover, Massachusetts.

She was preceded in death by all of her siblings and was the last surviving sibling of the Veale family. She now rests peacefully with her sisters, Mrs. Florence Veale Todd, Mrs. Agnes Veale Shoulders, and Ms. Ruth Veale, and her brothers, Mr. Arthur Veale, Mr. Franklin Veale, Mr. Cullen Veale, and Mr. Samuel Veale.

Bertha "Peaches" Vann will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A viewing will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Friday, January 2nd 10-11AM. The Funeral Service will begin at 11AM. Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
