Bertie Mae Eddy “Sunny” Armel, 66 of Centreville, VA passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at the home of her daughter in Jeffersonton, VA. Both of her children were at her bedside. Sunny was born on July 13, 1938 in Jacksonville, FL to William Douglas Eddy and Chrstine Phillips Eddy. She was raised in the Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ), and upon graduation from Andrew Jackson Senior High School in 1960, Sunny attended Florida State University and majored in Home Economics. She also performed as an acrobat member of the Quartet Adagio in the FSU circus. After graduation, Sunny moved with her husband John to the metropolitan Washington area. She taught Home Economics in Maryland for 2 years, and then devoted herself to raising her children. Sunny returned to education in 1978, and she worked for 25 years at Clifton Elementary School as an Instructional Assistant. She retired from education only last year due to illness. She is survived by her daughter- Kelley Armel Fabish of Jeffersonton; son-Tyler Scott Armel and his wife Vicky of Amissville; grandchildren- Thomas and Masen Armel both of Amissville; sisters- Pat Booth and her husband Joel, Toni Hanlon and her husband Don and her lifelong friend Glenda Harper all of Jacksonville, FL. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews and extended family including William, Christopher and Carrie Pearson, Robert Seigfried, and Medge Carter. Sunny enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, and her dogs, and she loved to be with her family and work with children. She was a loving, devoted mother and “Nana” and a caring friend to all the people she touched. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton, VA, where a memorial service will be held on Friday, July 8 at 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Rapidan, PO Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701.
