Bertram Aubrey Thomas

Bertram Aubrey Thomas, known to all as Bert, was born on June 17, 1953, to Carol (Tom) and Joan Thomas in Alexandria, VA. His family soon moved to Tampa, where Bert, with his bright red hair and freckles, became the center of attention for his aunts and cousins. As the oldest brother to Carla Marie and Scott Eric, Bert was known for (trying to) keep everyone in line, instilling values that would guide them throughout his life.
From a young age, Bert had a clear vision-he wanted to be an architect. While earning his undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of Florida, he was led to faith through the Crossroads Church of Christ, where he grew deeply in his relationship with Christ. In Tampa, Bert helped to plant the Sunrise Church of Christ, and it was there he met Jeannie Rodriguez. The two married on June 7, 1980, committing their lives and relationship to their faith.
Fatherhood brought Bert immense joy. Angela Marie, his first daughter and first unconditional love, was born on November 6, 1981, followed by his "favorite turkey," Reagan Emily, on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1984. Bert worked tirelessly, balancing family time with a successful career as an architect. He led by example in both good times and hard, providing for his family with unwavering dedication.
Bert served faithfully at the Bay Area Church of Christ as a teacher of all ages, Deacon, and Elder. His life's mission was to share his faith and guide others to experience a full life in God. He left us with a challenge to meet him in Heaven, where his goal was always set.
Bert is survived by his wife Jeannie, and his daughters Angela Manley (Mike) and Reagan Thomas (Lindsay); his grandchildren Brodie Brunson, Bailey Brunson, and Wyatt Manley; his sister Carla Conner (Mike) and Scott Thomas (Joy); and his nieces Rachel Godin (Walker), Erica Menendez (Mike), Morgan Thomas, and Mary Joan Thomas; and grandniece Charlotte Godin; his Siblings in Love Lily Hernandez, Irene Rodriguez, and David Rodriguez, and their families.
