Beryl D. Schley, 91, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026.
He was born September 17, 1934, in Cavour, South Dakota, the son of Sylvester and Belva (Kelley) Schley.
Beryl married Evelyn Leone Gilbert on November 27, 1954 in Yale, South Dakota. They were inseparable and went everywhere together. To their union in marriage, they have six children, Rick, Gary, Sandy, Donna, Irene and Stan.
Beryl was a truck driver & ranch hand for Highway Oil, Inc. for over 40 years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed bird hunting and dog training and breaking horses when he was younger. Beryl loved his family more than anything and enjoyed the time he was able to spend with them. They often played cards, quilting with Evelyn and spent time watching birds.
Survivors include his children, Rick (Jane) Schley, Gary (Donna) Schley, Sandra (Mike) Swygert, Donna (Tim) Townsend, Irene (Brad) Mayer and Stan (Rhonda) Schley; twenty grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; two great- great grandchild and three siblings, Jimmy Schley, Kenneth Schley and Dolores Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Schley, his parents and three siblings, Dorothy Schley, Norman Schley and Paul Schley.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in McFarland, Kansas. His family will greet family and friends one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest next to the love of his life, Evelyn, at McFarland Cemetery. In his honor, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in McFarland.
