Bessie Dicken Sherman, 87, New Marshfield, gained her wings on November 30, 2025,
at her residence.
Born and raised in New Marshfield, Ohio, January 21,1938 the daughter of the late
George and Nannie Robinson Dicken. Bessie lived a life defined by love, dedication,
and unwavering kindness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Paul Sherman, her son
Tommy Sherman, her brothers Gene Dicken and Clyde Dicken, and her sister Bonnie Hedrick.
Bessie is survived by her son Doug (Debbie) Sherman, her daughter Pebbles "Paula"
(Jerry) Schoonover, grandson Mike Sherman and his special friend Lindsey Hamlin, and her three
cherished great-granddaughters Maya (Adam) Binkney, Macy Sherman, and Mallory Sherman.
She also leaves behind many extended family members
and friends who she loved dearly.
Bessie dedicated 22 years of service to the Athens Mental Health Center, where she
retired. She was a proud member of the Athens American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Known for her warm heart and open kitchen, Bessie loved cooking and gathering with
friends. Animals held a special place in her life-she treasured her pets Katie and Buddy,
and later in life her beloved cats.
The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to the entire Ohio Health Hospice team, with
special gratitude to nurse Bob Baxter and STNA/CNA Sandy Brown. Deep appreciation is also
given to Barry and Lynne Bolin and Candie and Jeff Carr for their unwavering support.
Bessie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her laughter, and the love she
shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the countless lives she
touched.
Services will be Friday, December 5, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home,
with Pastor Barry Bolin officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service.
Burial will follow in New Marshfield Cemetery.
