Bessie Hernandez Talamantes

Bessie Hernandez Talamantes, 75, of Uvalde, Texas passed away on February 23, 2025, at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.  with a rosary at 7 p.m. on both days at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on February 28, 2025, 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. 

She was born on February 8, 1950, in Big Wells, Texas to Victoria (Ramirez) and Rosendo Hernandez. 

She married Federico G. Talamantes, Jr., on September 23, 1965, in Fort Worth, Texas. 

She is survived by her husband of 59 years of Uvalde; three sons, Mario Talamantes, Fred Talamantes and wife, Rachel Davila and Gilbert Talamantes all of Uvalde; two sisters, Linda Tapia of San Antonio and Esmeralda Ochoa of Waco; five brothers, Johnny Hernandez of Indiana, Rosendo Hernandez of Big Wells., Texas, Richard Hernandez of Illinois, Julio Marines and Ray Marines both of Waco; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Mario Marines and Rudy Marines; and her twin sister, Betty Hernandez.
