George Myers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Feller & Clark Funeral Homes - Auburn on Oct. 1, 2025.
George Bernard "Bernie" Myers, 92, of Auburn, Indiana, died on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at Parkview DeKalb.

He was born on Dec. 2, 1932, in Garrett, Indiana. His parents were Thelma and Wilbur Myers.

Bernie was baptized at First Baptist Church in Garrett and received a Perfect Attendance award for Sunday school. He played an active role in his church communities.

In high school he played basketball and football, edited the school's yearbook, and was president of his class.

Later on, Bernie joined the Army, serving his country from 1952-54.

He met the love of his life at his sister's wedding and they were married five months later in 1955. From that point on his mission in life became that of provider and protector for his family. Bernie loved his family dearly, always concerned for their needs.

He worked as a telegrapher and freight agent for the B&O Railroad until 1961, when he started his career in the Garrett Postal Service, progressing to Postmaster in 1985. He transferred to the Auburn branch until his retirement in 1989. Bernie continued his role of provider through miscellaneous odd jobs, as a real estate agent and as manager of Classic Manor Condos.

When he wasn't working, he enjoyed fishing, coaching Little League, gardening, bird watching, camping, and watching sports with his boys.

Surviving are his charming wife, Lillian Myers; a daughter, Mary, and her husband, Donald Dickison; two sons, the elder, Lorin, and the younger, David, and his wife, Luz Wayer; grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Dickison, Sarah (Dickison) Stewart and Joseph and Joshua Myers; and great-grandchildren, Grace and Melody Stewart, Joel, Michael and Faith Dickison, and Bently, Braydon and Miley Myers.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Thelma and Wilbur Myers; sister, Dona Dudash; and brother-in-law, Robert Dudash; daughter-in-law, Miley Myers; and grandson, Brandon Myers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, Feller & Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10-11 a.m., on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Roselawn Cemetery in Auburn, with military honors by the U.S. Army.
