Betsy Ross Lunsford Brown, 91, of Union Cross Church Road, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Vienna Village of Pfafftown.

Born on July 4, 1934, in Yadkin County, Betsy was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary Mikles Lunsford. She lived a life defined by devotion—first to her faith, and above all to her family, whom she loved with her whole heart.

Betsy retired from Hunter Publishing Company, now Jostens, after more than 25 years of dedicated service. While she valued her work, her greatest joy was always found at home and in the presence of those she loved. She had a special gift for turning everyday tasks into acts of love. Whether tending her flowers and garden, canning and sharing vegetables, keeping a warm and welcoming home, or carefully ironing clothes for her family, Betsy found happiness in caring for others. Nothing brought her more joy than being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, especially when it came to spending time with her grandchildren.

She cherished traveling across the United States with her family and friends, and in earlier years, enjoyed the fellowship and fun of boating at Lake Norman. Betsy also found pleasure in shopping, making returns with a smile, and playing golf through the years.

A lifelong and faithful member of Union Cross Friends Meeting, Betsy served as a Children's Sunday School teacher, and she always enjoyed being a part of the Galeion Class with all their activities over many years. She deeply loved her class and took great pride in the lives they led and the impact they made in their community. Her faith was a guiding light, and her kindness and care extended to all who knew her. She was a devoted member of the Union Cross community and treasured her neighbors as friends.

In addition to her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Lee “Kenny” Brown; sister, Kay Dixon; and two great-grandchildren, Kemp and Oliver Burgiss.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Gina Brown Hayes and husband David, Lisa Brown Groce and husband Christopher, and Tiffany Brown Burgiss and husband John; grandchildren, Carrie Hayes Bjorkquist and husband Eric, Dr. Tyler Groce, Austin Groce and wife Brittany, Riley Burgiss and wife Gigi, and Maddie Burgiss; great-grandchildren, Carter Groce, Mack Bjorkquist, Brexli Groce, Daxtin Groce, and Kenneth Lee Groce; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will follow at 3:30 PM at Union Cross Friends Meeting, officiated by Rev. Jared Warden and Rev. Nelson Puffenbarger. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Union Cross Friends Flower and Gift Fund, in memory of Betsy Brown, 2533 Union Cross Church Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Vienna Village and Trellis Hospice for the loving and compassionate care shown to Mrs. Brown.

Betsy’s life was a beautiful example of love in action—quiet, steady, and deeply felt. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many lives she touched.
