Betsy Fleitman, of Lindsay, TX, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
Betsy was born on May 25, 1941 to John and Pat Reed in Tulsa, OK. After Betsy graduated from Marian High School in Bellaire, TX in 1959, she went on to earn her master's degree at Texas Women's University.
Betsy taught high school math and English for over 30 years finishing her career at North Central Texas College before retiring from teaching. Betsy worked for the City of Lindsay as the City Secretary for over 15 years, before fully retiring. Even after retiring Betsy continued to volunteer at Abigail's Arms each week.
In 1961, Betsy met Leon Fleitman through a college friend. Betsy and Leon went on to have four children, Virginia (Ginger) Johnson, Shannon Anderson, Scott Fleitman and Tracy (Tejay) Fleitman.
Betsy was predeceased by her parents, John and Pat Reed. She is survived by her husband, Leon Fleitman, sister Charlotte Moore, children and their spouses, Ginger and Derrall Johnson, Shannon and Kris Anderson, Scott and Karen Fleitman, Tejay and Michelle Fleitman, 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and multiple nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be held at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home on Friday April 21 at 6 PM.
Funeral Mass will be at St Peter's Catholic Church in Lindsay on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to help victims of violence, at Abigail's Arms, (abigailsarms.org) P.O. Box 1221, Gainesville, TX 76241, an organization Betsy loved and felt strongly about.
