Betsy Taylor Showe

Betsy Showe, 77, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2022, at Coffman Nursing Home, in Hagerstown Maryland.

Born June 14, 1945, in Hagerstown. She was the daughter of the late William Luther and Maxine Rhoda (Myers) Showe.

Betsy worked as a cook for many years at various establishments in Hagerstown. Previously she worked at Long Meadow Bowling Alley, as a kitchen manager and most recently, a cook at Funkstown American Legion.

Betsy loved reading, cooking, and staying busy. In her younger years, she liked to sew. Mostly, she enjoyed cooking holiday dinners for her family over the years.

She is survived by her daughter, Danna Britner (John) of Williamsport, MD, daughter, Lisa Hopkins of Hagerstown. Sons, David Highbarger, Harry Alger and Jason Alger (Tambra) all of Hagerstown, son Michael Alger (Kristy) of Martinsburg, W.V. Sisters, Wilma Schlotterbeck, of Tucson Arizona, Patricia Bartlett and Debra Burger both of Hagerstown.

19 grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Audrey Buchanan and Brother David Showe, both of Hagerstown.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 22, for friends and family from 6-7pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg, MD. A private burial will be held on September 23, 2022, at Rosehill Cemetery in Clear Spring, MD.

Thanks to the staff at Coffman Nursing Home for caring for Betsy. They became her second family.
