Betsy Sime Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 22, 2012.
Betsy was born in Loweville, NY to Harold and Mildred Roberts on February 22, 1937. When Betsy was still young they moved to Falls Church, VA where she grew up along with her younger sister, Nancy. Betsy was primarily a home maker. She was a superb pianist, an accomplished artist and a skilled quilt maker. Her 5 children were the center of her life. She married Keith Sime, a Marine and a Naval Aviator, on June 1, 1960. Keith served in the Marine Corps for 25 years during which time he was transferred to many different bases with periodic unaccompanied tours of duty. Betsy adjusted to each move with alacrity and quickly established a loving, happy home for her family at each new duty station. Upon his retirement in 1980, Keith and Betsy moved to Bainbridge Island, WA, where Betsy owned and operated a custom framing store known as Artworks. They moved again to Sunnyvale, CA before settling in Sunriver in 1989. During Betsys 7 year battle with her cancer she traveled extensively with Keith, celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary, welcomed the birth of her 8th grandchild, spent time with her other grandchildren and learned just before she passed away that she was to become a great grandmother. Betsy is survived by her husband, her 5 children, Billy, Jane, David, Susan and Carolyn and her 8 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her sister. A Rosary will be held at the historic St. Francis Church (downtown) Bend at 10:15 AM on October 27, 2012. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM, also at St. Francis. She will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to Partners in Care, Home Health & Hospice, 2075 NE Wyatt Ct, Bend, OR 97701 or online at http://www.partnersbend.org.
