Bettie Allen McConnaughhay, 86, of Searcy passed away Tuesday Aug. 8, 2023. She was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Augusta, Ark., to the late Perry Allen and Elsie Ray Hall.
Bettie spent most of her adult life as a homemaker and caring for her husband and children. One of Bettie's favorite memories was being served breakfast by Elvis Presley while working as a telephone operator. Bettie was also a licensed pilot, missionary, and fostered 52 children while serving as a foster parent. The thing she enjoyed the most was spending time with her family and her church home, Park Avenue Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Cathy Churchwell (Ricky) of Griffithville, Kenneth McConnaughhay (Susan), Terri Coats (James) of Harrison and Douglas McConnaughhay (Tammy) of Searcy; grandchildren, Carrie White (Tim), Myron Churchwell (Heather), Anthony McConnaughhay (Leslee), Kendal Wages (Jeremy), Toby Shea (Ty), Jonathon Coats (Nicole), Janeice Franklin (Caleb), Jeremy Coats (Kayla), Olivia Hammitt (Preston), Mariah Stockman (Daniel), Heath McConnaughhay (Tina), Nathan Claxton (Rebecca) and Dilon Willmuth; 33 great-grandchildren; sister, Patsy Ruth McDoniel of Azle, Texas.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Johnny McConnaughhay; and siblings, Richard Gregory, Lola Berkshire and Alice Leatrice Gaither.
Memorial services will be Saturday Aug. 12, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Searcy with Reverends Keith Lunsford and Rocky Joslin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
