Betty Abernathy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tom M. Wages Funeral Service - Snellville on Feb. 22, 2026.
With hearts both heavy and grateful, we celebrate the beautiful life of Betty Yvonne Abernathy, who peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on February 21, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born on August 26, 1940, Betty was a woman shaped by resilience, strengthened by faith, and guided by an unwavering love for her family. Her life was not measured merely in years, but in the countless lives she touched with kindness, patience, and quiet strength.

Her greatest treasure was her family.

To her husband, Donald Lee Abernathy married for 68 years and 11 months.

She also leaves to cherish her precious memory to her loving children: Donald Mark Abernathy; Timothy Lee Abernathy (preceded her in death); Deborah Evon Longshore; Miriam Floyd Abernathy (preceded her in death).

Betty's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Tamara Pratt; Timothy Abernathy Jr.; Micah Abernathy; Alexis Magana; Heather Daniel; and Melissa Floyd.

She was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, each a living reflection of her enduring love and legacy.

In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind a host of extended relatives, dear friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure her memory.

Betty's life was a testimony of perseverance, quiet faith, and unconditional love. She taught by example that strength does not always have to be loud, and that love-when given freely-creates a legacy that time cannot erase.

Though we mourn her absence, we rejoice in the impact of her life. Her love remains woven into the hearts of those she nurtured, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire generations to come.

"Her children arise and call her blessed." - Proverbs 31:28

Betty Yvonne Abernathy will always be remembered, honored forever, and loved beyond measure.
