Betty "Jo" Edmonds Adkins, 92, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at her home in Henrico, Virginia.
Born on August 2, 1933, Betty was a proud graduate of John's Creek High School in Pikeville, Kentucky. She began her professional life with C&P Telephone and AT&T before dedicating over four decades to nurturing young lives through Betty's Daycare. Her commitment to caring for others left a lasting impact on many families in her community.
Betty was a devoted member of Goodwill Baptist Church and found joy in simple pleasures such as gardening and reading. Her warmth, generosity, humor, and deep love for those around her defined her presence and touched all who knew her.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, James Adkins; her son Britt (Leslie) Adkins; her brother Homer Edmonds; grandchildren Nick Adkins, Sean (Amanda) Adkins, and Tyler Adkins; and great-grandchildren Ava Adkins, Aaron Adkins, and Isla Adkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Truely Edmonds; siblings Tom Edmonds, Ken Edmonds, Pete Edmonds, Bill Edmonds, and Bob Edmonds; and her son, Ric Dean Adkins.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Bliley's Staples Mill Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the same location with a procession to Westhampton Memorial & Cremation Park.
In honor of Betty's lifelong kindness and care for children, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101-0050.May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
