A true inspiration to all women but especially to those who are the most vulnerable. She left a lasting legacy for women that will not be soon forgotten.

As a young child I knew Mrs Aptaker while attending elementary school. The Aptaker home was a home filled with love. I grew up in the same wonderful neighborhood we shared. Although I have moved out of state; after 50 + years I am fortunate as I continue my friendships with her "children" and send my deepest and most sincere condolences to her family and friends who had the good fortune to share in her wonderful life. God bless.

Betty was an incredible, warm woman who I had the honor to meet on several occasions when I worked at Laurel House. She and the other Founding Mothers of Laurel House would talk about taking women fleeing a domestic violence situation into their own homes and making them a bed on the sofa, often with their kids on the floor. This was in the '80s when domestic violence wasn't spoken of or dismissed altogether. The courage, bravery, kindness and compassion of Betty and others saved countless lives in Montgomery County and paved the way for supportive services that have helped thousands since. She was a true trailblazer and someone who leaves a legacy of love. My deepest condolences to Betty's family and friends.

I know how much Betty inspired my Mother, Jeane Jacoby, to become a feminist, to support women who were battered, and to see through new eyes. Betty was a friend.

My best friend for over 50 years. I admired her for her many talents and her devotion to family and the women's movement. Her art works also were so great!

I wish that we can all (males and females, friends and family) be inspired to live life to the fullest and help others as Betty did. She was the woman!
