Betty Arrington, 91, went Home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, July 25, 2023. It was too soon for her family, but God knows best. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hannah Warren Nichols and father, William Portland Jones, and grandparents John and Pallie Warren. She loved the Smokey Mountains that were her birthplace, and now will rest in eternity in their care.
She will be greatly missed by her children; Thomas Arrington (FL), Marcia Arrington (FL) Joanie Pond (husband Russ VA), Patty Rhodes (NC). She was blessed with seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was known as Memaw to countless others.
Betty retired from Civil Service after 25 years. She loved to cook, it was her way of showing love and it was always delicious. Reading and Solitaire filled her days. She loved animals, especially birds, and made sure they were all fed as well. Her visits to the horse, cats, dogs, and goats at the farm were part of her daily walks. Thrift shopping was an especially enjoyable pastime.
She was a faithful member of Balsam Missionary Baptist Church where she served to plan and prepare meals for the church family before she moved to Florida and then recently to her home in Virginia.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30th, 2023 at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church cemetery with Pastor Lee Brooks officiating.
Memorials may be made to Balsam Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 280, Balsam, NC 28707.
