Betty J. (Absher) Bowles, 77, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025 at Parkway Manor, Marion, IL. She had a long health battle, but kept her spirits and those of her caregivers high due to her faith in the Lord.
She was born March 19, 1948 in Marion, IL to Mason and Imogene Absher. She was married to Ed Bowles for 18 years before his death.
Many know Betty from her life-long work in the Real Estate business and previously running the Hallmark store in Marion, IL. She was known to have many local friends and continually sought to take care of others. More than anything, she was known for how much she loved her various cats and dogs over the years.
She is a graduate of Marion High School and previously attended the First Church of God in Marion, IL.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Fox and his wife, Linda, of Maryville, TN; and brother, Bill Absher and his wife, Sandy, of Marion, IL; plus many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ed Bowles.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
The graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Those attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery just prior to 10:00 a.m.
For those who prefer, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to "Finding Forever Animal Rescue" or the "Gideons International." Envelopes will be available at the graveside service or may be mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.
