Mrs. Betty Jean Brooks, 95, of George West, Texas passed away July 3, 2025. She was born October 1, 1929, in Robstown to William Briant Messer Sr. and Mary Irene (David) Messer. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Briant and Irene; her sisters, Leta and Doris Messer; her brother, William Briant “Dub” Messer Jr.; her husband, Wayne Brooks; and her sons, Bennett Wayne “Rocky” Brooks and Briant Layne Brooks.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Jean (John Amthor) Bramblett and Elizabeth Gail (Dennis) Iley; daughter-in-law, Hortensia Brooks; and three grandchildren, Kevin Stewart Iley, Terri Christine Iley and Elayna Mia (Brooks) Saib.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with the funeral service at 2 o'clock that afternoon. Rev. Warner Collier will officiate.
Burial will follow in the George West Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty’s name may be made to the South Texas Children’s Home or Cadiz Baptist Church.
