August 29, 1952 - December 25, 2025
Betty Joann Brown, 73, of Bloomington, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at her home.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Entombment will take place at East Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum immediately following services.
Additional visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Myers Funeral Home, 203 E. Bates Street, Wellsville, MO 63384.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association and the Alzheimer's Association.

She was born August 29, 1952 in Mexico, Mo., daughter of Calvin and Ethel Cheatum Kemp.
She married David Brown on September 16, 1972 in Wellsville, Mo.
Surviving are her husband, David of Bloomington; two daughters, Kumari Brown of Chicago and Anasa Brown of Dallas, Texas and two brothers, Sam Kemp of Wellsville, Mo. and Richard Kemp of St. Louis, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Billy Kemp and three sisters, Janice Kemp, Brenda Kemp and Doris Simms.
Betty worked at State Farm Insurance Company for 35 years and retired in 2011 from her position as a project planner.
She enjoyed volunteering at the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts and Habitat for Humanity.
Betty and David enjoyed traveling together, domestic and internationally and attending ISU basketball games.

I´m so very sad to see this news. Betty and I most recently volunteered together at the BCPA. But my fondest memories are of hanging tapes and delivering output from Systems at State Farm in the 1980s. Betty's beautiful smile and wonderful laugh made the most mundane of tasks fun. She is one of the most special people I had the privilege to work with at the Farm.
