Born April 26, 1927, Betty Marie Burnett rejoined her husband Dean and the other members of her family who preceded her in death on May 29, 2025. She was 98 years, one month, and five days old. Betty was born in Kansas City Missouri as the only child to Edward Joseph Teague and Marjorie (Thomas) Teague. They had a large extended family and she was surrounded growing up by her cousins. Betty attended William Chrisman High School in Independence, then Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. She was employed for a time with the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City until she was introduced to her future husband, Dean Burnett. The two met when his parents bought the Bob White Tourist Court from her parents who had moved to the Howard Creek area and built the cabins there. They married on Labor Day, 1954. Residing in Kansas City for a short while until son Michael was born, they moved to the Everton area. There was born son David, and they lived there for several years till moving to the Twin Lakes area where they raised their two sons. Betty worked for short stints at the Mar-Bax Shirt Factory and Baxter Travenol Lab, but otherwise was a contented homemaker. She loved to read, cook, sew, and garden. In 1995 after Dean retired from the Corps of Engineers, they built a cabin in the deep woods just west of Flippin. They lived happily there among the deer and varmints until 2018 when Dean passed away.

Betty is survived by two sons, Michael and David; daughter-in-law Dianne; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Johnny and five great-grandchildren, Luke, Jeremiah, JJ, Hadley, and Maggie Jo. Praise be to God for placing her on this Earth and all the blessings this woman bestowed on everyone she met.

Her funeral will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Bull Shoals with Heather Marsalis as Celebrant. Burial is in Baxter Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary or Have a Heart Pet Shelter.
