Betty Fay Burton, age 84, of Hot Springs, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022.
Betty was born on January 21, 1938, in Camp Albert Pike. She was the daughter of Ira Nesbin Lowery and Murphy Carrie Echols Lowery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollen Burton; her parents; her daughter, Linda Cooper; her grandson, B.J. White; and her three brothers, Troy Lowery, Billy Lowery, and Charles Lowery .
She was Church of Nazarene in her faith. On January 21, 1954 she married the love of her life, Rollen Burton. Over the years Betty owned 70 Landing on Lake Greeson. She was a founding board member of the Pike County Water Association. Betty also founded the American Legion Post 13 in Hot Springs. She loved all things outdoors, hunting, fishing, gambling, and crocheting. Betty will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Richard and Suson Burton of Newhope, David and Becky Burton of Langley, and Timothy Burton of Mountain Pine; her daughter and her husband, Kathy and Tracy Watson of Royal; her eleven grandchildren, Jason, Amanda, Chris, Stacy, Christina, Shanna, Timothy Jr., Brent, Skylar, Cody, and Taylor; her eighteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Geraldine VanDolsen of Indianapolis, Indiana; her best friend, Cathy of Amity; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel with Janice McRae officiating.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM prior to services at Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Interment will be in the Langley Hall Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, 209 North 3rd St, Glenwood, AR 71943.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Burton, Jason Burton, Steven Sykes, Maddox Sykes, Bimbo Flemmings, and Chris Harris.
Honorary pallbearers will be B.J. White and the American Legion Riders.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dierksen Hospice and their special nurses, Kylie and Murphy.
