Betty Jean Chambley
Betty Jean Chambley, 93, died January 8, 2025, in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Mrs. Chambley was born on November 10, 1931, to L.J. & Mozelle Hill in Montezuma, Georgia. She moved to Fort Pierce in the early 50’s.
Betty Jean was a lifelong member of Orange Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 25 years and was the church clerk for 45 years. She was the bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Indian River Spreader Service. She was the epitome of a Southern homemaker, always there for her children and grandchildren. Betty Jean cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. She took her job as a mother/grandmother very seriously. Her favorite time of year was Christmas because she got to host Christmas Eve dinner for the whole family, and you could always count on a variety of delicious homemade cakes made with love. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Cathy Capezza of Port St. Lucie, FL; sons, Lesley “Bubba” Chambley of Fort Pierce, FL and Stephen Chambley of Fort Pierce, FL; brother, Jay Hill of Eatonton, GA; grandchildren, April (Wayne) Scott, Louis (Jennie) Capezza, Keely (Clarence) Adkison, Dawn (Johnny) Kneer, Michael Chambley, Laura Jean (Jeff Allen) Chambley, Tiffany (Kent) Myers, Jessica Ann Chambley, Christopher (Kimberly Brant) Chambley; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Taylor, Tatum, Kate, Abbey, Luke, Morgan, Logan, Kendyl, Kyle, Wyatt, Jaxon, Shana, Zachary, Destiny, Bryce, Tory, Kaylee, Cayden, and Carson; and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lesley L. Chambley and son-in-law, Louis Capezza.
Services: Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 11:00 am-12:00 PM with a service to follow at 12:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery.
