Betty Clark Obituary

BETTY J. CLARK
December 7, 1940 ˜ June 19, 2023

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Betty Jean Clark, went home to Jesus on June 19, 2023, at the age of 82 at PeaceHealth Hospital.

Betty was born on Dec. 7, 1940, in Minot, ND, to Amanda and Edward Kunkel. The youngest of 12 children, Betty was the only one in her family born in a hospital, and was thus named after the nurse who delivered her. In the ensuing years, Betty’s family moved to Washington while she was still a child, where she later met and married Lloyd Clark. Together they had three beautiful daughters.

After raising her daughters, Betty went to work at Montgomery Ward, and later worked and retired from PeaceHealth. Betty enjoyed babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren and, later, great-grandchildren.

To Betty, nobody was a stranger; she made a concerted effort to get to know everyone she met; sharing her love of Jesus, babies, sewing, and crafting videos. You would often find Betty showing her love of God by serving in her church nursery, helping care for babies. Indeed, one of her hobbies included crocheting blankets for new moms or soon-to-be moms.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers and three sisters, husband, Lloyd; and daughter, Renee. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Laura Dolph and Tracie (Mike) McClean, sons-in-law, Dave and Terry; seven grandchildren, Heather (Jon), Amanda (Glenn), Matthew (Suzie), Brandon (Rebecca), Shawn (Emily), Benjamin (Rilee), and Alisha (Ethan); eight great-grandchildren, Ethan (Nicole), Aiden, Archer, Eva, Reagan, Lincoln, Brooke, and Anderson, as well as two great-great-grandchildren, Adrian and Alexandria.

A celebration of life, will be held at Hockinson Community Church (15918 N.E. 182nd Ave., Brush Prairie, WA) on Aug. 5, 2023 at 2 p.m.

My grandma was a true matriarch. Strong, funny and loving. She was always a calm and supportive presence. I'm lucky to have had her in my life. I will miss her quirky phone calls about being 40 years old for the past 40 years. May your soul be at peace. Say hi to mom for me.

I am so heartfelt to see the kind and wonderful things that our mom has done and touched the lives that she did.Yes her time was up here on earth but to see and know who she blessed in these comments as well as at the service and just over the years.I was fortunate to see her touch so many hearts. With that I now have a huge goal to live and learn to be that outwardly testimony to Jesus Christ as well.We all have pitfalls in life but learning how to get out of them and at the same time prove it was the Lord who helped her out...that is where we learn.I hope and pray to be that same example for my kids, and family....an obvious testimony that those around me can see.I am not perfect,I am human but with God's help and even at my age I too can achieve those goals God's has taught us to abide by.

I met Betty in 2008 when looking for a new apartment. We became best friends over the years and shared many special happy times together. She was a special friend. I will truly miss her.

Betty was a wonderful friend for many years and a beautiful example of what a Christian truly is. She gave of herself in so many ways. The assignment she had was completed. The example she left will continue in the lives she's touched. I celebrate with you Betty's life; well lived. "Well Done". Her address has changed, Heaven with Jesus and new assignments! We love our Betty! We'll be seeing you in a while.
Always, your old friend,
Joan and Esther
