Glasgow - Betty Carol Pace Clark passed away on December 23, 2025 at 95 surrounded by family. She was born on April 3, 1930, the daughter of James Fred Pace and Alcie Kinslow Pace.

She was raised in Marrowbone before continuing her education with degrees from Ward Belmont Preparatory School, the University of Kentucky (UK), and the Harvard-Radcliffe MBA Program.

After working as Chi Omega Chapter Visitor Representative, Betty Carol's career took her to New York. Her sales success while working at the Hotels, New Yorker and Roosevelt got her into Who's Who of American Women and on TV with Eleanor Roosevelt. She loved New York where she met Robert O. Clark, a Swiss native and Waldorf Astoria Executive. They married in 1958, a 62-year marriage. They went on to work for Hilton in San Francisco until 1961 when they made Glasgow home.

There, Betty Carol was at the heart of community life. As an owner of the Holiday Inn, and a gracious hostess, she brought new investment to Glasgow. She expanded the United Community Bank (Bank of Marrowbone), as Bank President. Betty Carol held leadership roles as the first female director of the Glasgow and Kentucky Chambers of Commerce. Her dedication impacted the First Presbyterian Church, Country Club, Glasgow Musicale, DAR, and the Kentucky Museum.

She was committed to UK, never missing a ball game. She was the first woman elected to student government, Chi Omega President, Mortar Board Member and National Secretary. She received the Distinguished Alumni Service Award for her leadership on the Board of Trustees, as Alumni Association Membership Chairman, serving on The Development Council, and at the Center on Aging.

She and her late husband travelled the world as Kentucky ambassadors. Her passion for life and adventure continued into her 90s, connecting with people, playing bridge, going to the races, and taking trips anywhere she could. She was an avid needle pointer, completing over 50 pieces. A horse lover she helped to start the Horse Park.

Betty Carol will be remembered for her beautiful smile, impeccable style, great parties, sassy one liners, and determination to live life to the fullest no matter what.

She is survived by her son, Fred Anson, Heather Pace, sister Hazeleen Brewster, nieces, and nephews. Her Family is grateful for many dedicated caregivers. A service celebrating Betty Carol's life will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Glasgow.

Memorials can be made to University of Kentucky Philanthropy in her name.

So happy I was able to reconnect with Betty Carol over the phone in recent months and even more recently just weeks before Christmas. I am 52 years old now and looking back I knew Betty Carol my whole life long as my parents were ole family friends back to the early 60's from when Betty Carol and Mrs. Mother Pace would visit Nashville on shopping trips. So many full memories of the Clark family on vacation trips to the snowy mountains of Colorado for New Year's celebrations. Bob & Betty Carol were always a sight for good times, fun and lots of talking & stories of Kentucky life from a global perspective. So glad I knew them and I won't ever forget them...

My family and I enjoyed many wonderful years with Betty Carol and Bob on Dale Hollow Lake, and my parents, Louie and Beula Nunn, considered them dear friends while we lived in Glasgow. May wonderful memories of two gracious people carry you through this trying time. And may Glasgow always remember their contributions.
