Betty Langdon Codding, born in Rochester, NY, on May 18, 1933, passed gently into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the age of 90. Betty was lovingly known as wife, Mom, Grandma, Gigi, sister, and aunt. She was also affectionately known as Aunt Betty to hundreds of young people at Gates Community Chapel and Freedom Village USA. She spent 65 years walking hand-in-hand with her husband, partner, and helpmate David L Codding. Together they served and celebrated Jesus while raising their six children Laura (Dave) Ashbaugh, Doreen (Dave) Brown, Dianne (Kelly) Horncastle, David Codding, II, Jeannine (Mike) Stout, and William Codding.
Today, she walks on streets of gold reunited with her son David, and her grandson Austin. She is predeceased by her brother Chet, her sisters Anne, Loretta, Bernice, Beverly, Emily, and Linda, her dear friend Maureen, and so many other loved ones and friends gone before her. Left to carry on her lessons of faith, life, and love are her sister Ruth Allison, her brother Mike (Jaynell) Gray, her children, grandchildren Jennifer Ashbaugh, Jason Ashbaugh, David (Stephanie) Ashbaugh, Mike Pastore, Christyne (Anthony) Capostagno, Danielle (Mike) Nayes, Jessica Codding, Micheal Stout, Rebecca (Jennifer) Burun-Stout, Jonathan Stout, Robert Stout, Joshua (Tiffany) Stout, David Stout, Eric Codding, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was known for her love of cooking, baking, crafting, gardening, home designing, and card-playing skills, to name a few. She kept her wonderful sense of humor and love of cards until Jesus carried her home. To those reading this today, Betty would share For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. She is awake with Him today in heaven.
