There are so many memories because we saw each other twice a week for many years - choir rehearsals, Sunday services and many holiday concerts and activities. My husband Ronnie and 'Betty Lou', as he called her, would take smoke breaks away from the rest of us. After her work day, Betty changed into casual pants and sweatshirts for choir rehearsals. As a stay-at-home mom, these rehearsals were my opportunity to dress up a little. In retirement, I now feel the same about being casual and comfortable. Betty and I both shopped at Boston Store and one Easter Sunday we both wore the same dress to church. I didn't mind - it meant we both had good taste. Betty often read the Gospel lesson passages at Sunday worship. She confessed she had a difficult time reading the 'bones' lesson reference. The song 'Dem Bones' kept playing in her head. I chuckle whenever I hear that Bible passage and think of her. Betty was feisty and honestly spoke her mind but she was also very sensitive. Sitting in the pew directly in front of her, I knew she and fellow tenors, Deanne and Barb would be crying over a sad incident or someone else's hurt. I loved that about them.

I loved her spicy personality and that grandpa called her Red. Their home was my favorite stop on our biking tour around Muskego lake that Tracy and I often did. But my favorite memory was our annual trout fishing trip! We kept grandpa hopping with trout and grandma´s freezer full. Always a wonderful time!
