Betty Swann Cook, 91, of Plains, Georgia, formally of Putney, Georgia, died Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Mathews Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mark Spraggins officiating. Interment will follow to Floral Memory Gardens.
She was born in Elmodel, to the late William Rufus Swann and Ruby Lucille Adams Swann. She graduated from Morgan High School in Morgan, Georgia.
She was retired from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) where she worked for 25 years traveling throughout the US and Europe. She continued her career with Savelle and Sons Jewelers for 23 years until her retirement. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed being outside with her flowers, spending time with her family, cooking, camping, and attending church. She was a member of Putney United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters Brenda Keegan (Christopher Jones) of Leesburg; Belinda Faircloth (Todd) of Bronwood, and stepchildren Robert Cook (Debbie), Wichita, KS, Donna Kay Cook, Ebro, FL, Loretta Laird (Kevin) DeFuniak Springs, FL, and Donnie Cook, Pensacola, FL. Sisters, Ann Holman of Blakely, and Judy Eason (Donny) of Leesburg, and grandchildren, Jennifer Bailey (Gary) of Macon, Misty Faircloth of Tarpon Springs, FL, Kristen Harrison (Tommy) and Amanda Nichols (Shaun) all of Leesburg, step-grandchildren, Ben Cook (Jessica), Goddard, KS, Courtney Browning (Dallas), Shawnee, KS, Christopher Laird, DeFuniak Springs, FL, Kimalie Jordan, Enterprise, Al, Caitlin Whigham, Enterprise, AL, Shawn Quails, Opp, AL, and twenty-one great grandchildren including, Abigail Walls (Caleb), Austin Patterson, Noah Bridge, Murdoc Harrison, Giuliana Nichols, Cameron Cook, Hendrix Cook, Nadiri Cook, Blakely Browning and Bodhi Browning. And great-great-granddaughter Ally Walls. She is also survived by her constant companion and loving dog Angel Cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Cook and sisters: Wanda Kay Swann of Elmodel, Billie Sue Fitzgerald of Newton, and brother Roger Swann, Nashville, GA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Mathews Funeral Home.
