Betty Ann Dazey

Betty Dazey, 84 of Sullivan, MO passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Betty Ann Sherman was born on September 16, 1940 in Cuba, Missouri to the late Anton Benjamin and Helen Anna (Hammer) Sherman. She attended and graduated from Sullivan High School at age sixteen in 1957. She was united in marriage to her beloved Ernest George Dazey on December 20, 1958. They enjoyed 63 wonderful and happy years together until Ernie's passing on February 2, 2022. Ernie and Betty made their home on Bacon Ridge Road from 1968 until their passing. They reunited in their heavenly home.
Betty was employed by Midwest Shoe Company for 32 years. First, as a bottom cementer and later as a floor lady. In 1984, Betty started babysitting. She and Ernie became very attached to the children they cared for and remained close to many of them after they were grown. There was not a lot of toys at Grandma and Grandpas house, however a lot of time was spent outside planting the garden, feeding the cows and riding in the side by side. Chet Dawson was the last of the kids they cared for and he became very special to both Ernie and Betty. In 1992 Betty and her sister Mary were cooks at Life Care Center where they made delicious meals for the residents.
Betty was a good Christian lady and most recently had attended Sullivan Family Worship Center in Sullivan. She and Ernie enjoyed a quiet and simple life together on their little farm. They cherished each other's company and the simple pleasures of country life.
Betty is survived by two children, Andrea Holland and husband Jeff, Andy Dazey all of Sullivan, MO; seven grandchildren, Stephen Dazey and wife Christy, Joseph Dazey and wife Jillian, Sarah Dazey and fiancé Eric Campbell, Jessie Dazey and wife Lauren, Jordan Jingst and husband David, Lydia Cuneio and husband D. J., Benjamin Holland and wife Jessica; nine great-grandchildren; one special grandson Chet Dawson; two sisters in law, Phyllis Dazey of St. Clair, MO and Marilyn Miller of Blackfoot Falls, Idaho; other relatives and many friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ernie Dazey; her parents, Anton and Helen Sherman; and her sister, Mary Tyree.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Sullivan Family Worship Center in Sullivan with Pastor Benjamin Holland and Pastor Duncan Skiles officiating. Interment will follow in Dutch Hill Cemetery, Sullivan, MO.
Visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 PM, Thursday, at Sullivan Family Worship Center, Sullivan, MO.
