Betty Jo Edwards, age 58, of Bladenboro passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
She was born in Bladen County on August 17, 1965, to the late Johnnie Edwards and Mary Lou Butler Edwards. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Benny Ray Edwards.
Left to cherish her memory are her brothers W.J. Edwards of Bladenboro, Curley Edwards (Doretha) of Bladenboro, sisters Frances Edwards and Mary Ann McLean (Eugene), both of Bladenboro, six nieces Zandra Brisson (Lynn), Barbara Freeman (Hollis), Cheryl Kinlaw, Allison Daughety (Adam), Ashley Bryant (Jason), and Susan Harrison (Chris), three nephews W.J. Edwards Jr., Michael Carlyle, and Dalton Kinlaw, four great nieces Kassidy Edwards, Christian and Kennedy Johnson, Haley Baxley, three great nephews, Sam Johnson (Ashlea), Conner Freeman, and Rod Baxley, four great great nieces, Naomie Johnson, Sadie Jane Rich, McKenzie Rae Harrison and Kendal Johnson, six great great nephews, Brantley Rich, Braxton Rich, Josh Harrison, Nolan Bryant, Easton Bryant, and Lucas Bryant, and her best friend Nellie Lockamy.
Betty Jo believed in family and had a compassionate and nurturing nature. She cared for her mother until her death in 2019 was always putting others’ needs before her own. Even though she had no children of her own, Betty Jo always treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her fur babies. The love she so freely gave will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the West Bladenboro Baptist Church in Bladenboro. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25th at West Bladenboro Baptist. Burial will follow the service in the Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
