Betty Marie Estes

Betty M. Estes, 85, of Sayre, PA, formerly of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the Sayre Healthcare Center.
Betty was born January 12, 1940 in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late George and Pauline (Shaffer) Platt.
Betty was a homemaker for most of her life. Early on, she served as a nurse aide at Robert Packer Hospital. After their retirement, Betty and her husband, Leon, spent several happy winters at their home in Bradenton, FL. Betty loved her family, parties with friends and family, spending time with her grand-dogs, watching the Buffalo Bills games with Leon, reading, and dining out.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Leon Estes; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alfred, John (Millie), Clinton (Reva), Paul (Leona), Donald (Peggy), and Eugene (Roberta) Estes; and Keith Ferguson.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Donna Estes of Elmira, NY; twin sister, Brenda (Platt) Ferguson; sister, Leona Platt; brother-in-law, K. Gary Chandler; several nieces, nephews, grand and great nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 11:30am – 12:00 pm at the Lowery-Urban Funeral Home, 225 S. Main St., Athens, PA. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 12:00 pm with Rev. Rich Hatch officiating.
Private burial and committal will be next to her husband, Leon, in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
Memorial donations may be made in Betty's memory to Happy Tails No Kill Sanctuary, 500 Cemetery Rd., Towanda, PA 18848.
