Schmidt Funeral Home - BrookshireBetty Louise Flowers stepped into heaven November 18, 2025, at 3:45 PM. Betty was born to Ed and Verna Lee Miller on May 3, 1936, in Riverside, Texas. She was one of ten children. She married James Robert Flowers on December 17, 1955. They had three children, Millicent Flowers (Chris) Gibbons of Waxahachie, TX, Pam Flowers (Shawn) Moran of Columbus Indiana, and James Robert (Tenza) Flowers Jr.of Corpus Christi, Texas.
She was the proud grandmother of six: Ryan Gibbons, Brandon (Kaleigh) Gibbons, Kelley (Jake) Broughton, John Moran, Daniel (Kate) Flowers, and Jamie Flowers. Her great-grandchildren are Zakk Gibbons, Zoe Gibbons, Audrey Broughton, and McKenna Gibbons.
Mrs. Flowers earned her degree from Sam Houston State University and dedicated her career to education, teaching at Alief ISD and Royal ISD. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with loved ones. She was an active member of Second Baptist Church, where she volunteered as a greeter and Bible Study teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband James Robert Flowers, and her grandson John Moran. Throughout her life, Mrs. Flowers resided in Huntsville, Odem, Alief, Brookshire, Katy, Mans eld, and Corpus Christi, Texas.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Elan Assisted Living Memory Care in Corpus Christi for their kindness and compassion. In lieu of owers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) or Elan Corpus Christi, 5441 Lipes Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX Holiday Fund.
Visitation at the Schmidt Funeral Home Brookshire, Texas Saturday November 29th from 10 to 11 AM, 819 Waller Avenue Brookshire, Texas 77423. Celebration of Life Service at Schmidt Funeral Home at 11 AM with burial to follow at Memorial Oaks 13001 Katy Freeway.
