Betty Lou Gibberson, a beloved member of the Bluefield community, passed away on December 30, 2025, at Glenwood Nursing Home. Born on March 11, 1936, in Bluefield, West Virginia, she spent her entire life in the town she cherished, embodying the spirit of a true local.
Betty dedicated her professional life to working at Mason Dixon Distributors, where she was known for her strong work ethic. Beyond her career, she was an active member of the First Christian Church, where she devoted her time and energy to serving others and nurturing her faith. Her contributions to the community and her church were a testament to her character and compassion.
In her personal life, Betty was surrounded by family, who were often her greatest joy. She is survived by her son, James Gibberson II, and his wife, Susan, of Bluefield, Virginia. Betty took immense pride in her grandchildren, Brandon Gibberson, Christina Lester, as well as Kelsey Boone and her husband, Jay. She was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Aria Gibberson and Harper Boone, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
Betty will be fondly remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the love she shared with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Romans and Violet Romans and her husband, James Edward Gibberson, as well as her siblings, Johnny Romans and June Lawrence.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Cravens-Shires Funeral Homes in Bluefield, West Virginia, on January 8, 2026. The visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM which will be officiated by Reverend Doug McDaniel. Betty will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia, following the service.
As we gather to celebrate Betty's life, we will cherish the memories of a remarkable woman whose legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is proud to serve the Gebberson family.
