Betty and I had many adventures, especially when we traveled to national teaching conferences. In 1979, we attended a conference in Chicago. When we left our hotel to find a restaurant for dinner we found ourselves at the blue-lighted edge of the filming of Blues Brothers. There they stood John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. We wondered whether anyone would hear about that movie. In 1981 in New York City we carried picket signs for a demonstration for inclusion of disabled children in public schools. When we walked into Central Park we passed The Dakota where John Lennon had been killed the December before, flowers still on the steps. We went to Houston and had dinner at Gilley's where we "rode" the mechanical bulls and did a little line dancing. She was such a special friend.
