Born on August 14, 1939, in Maury County, Tennessee, Betty was the daughter of the late John Howard Bolton and the late Nettie Lee Collins Bolton. She was a hardworking woman throughout her entire life. After leaving school in the eighth grade to help her family, she later earned her GED in 1990—a proud accomplishment she cherished. Betty worked as a supervisor at BF Imagewear for 32 years before retiring. Retirement didn’t slow her down; she went on to work part-time at Bargain Hunt and Hobby Lobby until suffering a stroke at the age of 82.
Betty had a spirited personality and was a true fighter. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball and was always eager to learn something new. She practiced karate, was a talented painter, and brought creativity into everything she did. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who showed up for every moment she could. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Roy W. Grooms; son, Dwayne (Tammy) Grooms of Rainbow City, Alabama; brother, Robert Lee (Barbara) Bolton of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Jean Bolton and Faye Bolton, both of Mt. Pleasant; son-in-law, Billy Fralix; grandchildren, DJ (Kylie) Grooms, Kayla (Brooks) Robinson, and Matt Bobo, great-grandchildren, Easton Grooms, Enzlie Grooms, Kade Robinson, Maxen Robinson, Jaxton Robinson, Lucas Robinson, Austin Newkirk, Hunter Bobo, and Matthew Bobo; two special friends, Charlsie Estes and Jimmy Faye Andrews; and her beloved grand-dog, Bella, who she grew very close to. She will also be fondly remembered by her special caregivers and friends, Debbie Rose and Beth Goll.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Jean Grooms Fralix; sister, Ethel Sue Bolton Nolen, and her husband, William “Junior” Nolen; brothers, J.P. (Wilma) Bolton, James Howard Bolton, and Harry T. Bolton.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Owens, Jason Grooms, Phillip Grooms, Chuck Grooms, Josh Grooms, and Michael Fralix. Honorary pallbearers include Robert Bolton, all her nieces and nephews, and the Porters Chapel Church family.
