Betty Gross

HIAWATHA- Betty Lou Gross, 87, of Hiawatha, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Born August 21, 1938, in Matoaka, she was the daughter of the late Harry Lee Goins and Margaret Josephine Pacitto Goins.
Betty loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar and piano. She would sing while working around the house and sitting on the porch. She was a wonderful mother who was loved dearly by her children who fondly remember her fried chicken and potato salad along with the handmade clothes she lovingly made when they were young. She enjoyed driving and buying scratch-off lottery tickets which earned her the nickname of "Bingo Betty." She will always be remembered as a precious and kind soul who was always saying something funny.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Robert Gross; sons, Danny Gross and Fred Gross; son-in-law, Weldon Agnew; brothers, Bobby Goins, James Goins, Johnny Goins, Ronald Goins, and Troy Goins; and sister, Brenda Murray.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Debbie Johnson and husband Danny of Rock, Shari Agnew of Rock; Tammy Tackett and husband Mark of Langley, KY, and Julie Long and husband Bryan of Rock; grandchildren, Danny Johnson, Amanda Lawson and husband Eric, Brooke Ryan and husband James, and Mason Long; great-grandchildren, Tyler Farmer, Jason (Bill) Farmer, Kaitlyn Burnette; numerous great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Mike Goins and wife Diane of Peterstown, Wayne Goins, and Roy Goins, both of Matoaka; sisters, Libby Hylton of Lashmeet, Judy Collins of Matoaka, Donna Sloane and husband Danny of Lashmeet, and Mary Stevers of Peterstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciate to the staff and residents of Glenwood Healthcare who affectionately referred to their mother as "Granny".
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 16. 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Kelly Lyle, officiating.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends attending the graveside service at asked to meet at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m.
